Event Standards

We are only accepting 30 athletes into each category!  This competition is going to include basic functional movements and weight lifting/moving.  You DO NOT have to be an proficient at any complex weight lifting moves (snatch) or gymnastics (muscle-up, handstand walks) to compete.  If you are normally able to accomplish workouts as prescribed in your gym, then you will be able to do this event.  These workouts are going to be a test of how much work you can do in a short period of time!  My goal is to bring you, the competitors, workout events that you have never done before with modal domains that are not customary in your gym!

Open Men/Women and Masters Men/Women Competition:  There will be three events to test these athletes.

Each workout will have a set prescription.  Those athletes who are unable to attempt the workout as prescribed will be allowed to scale.  However, if you do scale, you will not be in the running for the podium or the prizes for the top 1st, 2nd and 3rd finishers.  Again I emphasize, if you are able to do most or all workouts prescribed, you will be able to do these events.

Athletes must have good cardiovascular endurance and know how to run, bike, and row on a Concept 2 rowing machine.  Athletes should be competent in the basic power lifts such as squats, frontsquat, bench press, military press, deadlift, and power clean and be able to do multiple reps with good form.  Also, each athlete should be proficient in basic functional movements such as pushups, pullups, situps, back extensions, and lunges.  Athletes should be able to scale an 6′ wall, jump, climb, throw weight, and sprint.

Team Open Competition: There will be 3 events to test these athletes.  Team must have 2 men, 2 women, and a male and female backup.  That is 6 total team members.  You only need 4 to compete, but if someone gets hurt, that will leave you in a bad spot.  Standards for team athletes are the same as the above Men and Women Open standards.  We are looking to have some AMAZING prizes for top team finishers!

Strongman Event: There will be 2 events to test these athletes.  All athletes, male and female, should be proficient at ALL power lifting movements such as Deadlift, Squat, Military Press, and Bench Press.  This event’s athletes should know how to perform overhead movements like the push-press and push-jerk.  Athletes should be able to, in all ways relevant, move lots of weight at very fast speeds and lift, carry, pull or/and possibly throw awkward shaped, heavy objects like logs, kegs, barrels, a truck, etc.  If strength is your wheelhouse, this category is for you!  There will not be a difference in weights for men and women.  Strength should be your wheelhouse if you do this event.

Endurance Event: There will be 1 event for this category.  This event will be about 30 minutes in length.  All athletes, male and female, should be proficient and have good capacity in the endurance sports of running, rowing and biking.

We need volunteers to judge the athletes and for perimeter security!  You will receive free food, beverages, and gear courtesy of Push ‘Em Out for volunteering!!
